Who We Are
Stephanie Martin

"The beginning of my career started well-before I entered into the profession. My own personal experiences within the educational system helped shape the professional that I am today. To highlight a few, I have experience in applied behavior analysis, parent-training, counseling, advocacy, and school psychology. The vast exposure that I have had across my professional environments supports the lens in how I implement my practice. Ultimately, I have the understanding that every journey is different. Therefore, my clinical approach is not dependent on “what I know”, rather tailored towards the whole-child that I am working with.

When faced with concerns regarding your child's development, learning, social-emotional or cognitive functioning testing may be warranted. I provide client-tailored psychological assessments and evaluations. This service is offered to children/adolescents ages between 4-18. Overall, it is my goal to facilitate a safe and nurturing environment and offer a caring perspective to even the most difficult or stressful of childhood concerns.

My personality may be characterized as vibrant, empathetic, funny, and outgoing. I take pride in the fact that I have been born and raised in Massachusetts. Like most Bostonians, I love the Red Sox, struggle to parallel park, and enjoy Starbucks coffee. In my free time, I work as a ball-attendant for the Boston Red Sox. I also enjoy yoga, hiking, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my friends and family. This past year, I became a dog-mom and returned back to my faith. I have found that being outdoors brings a sense of restoration and peace to my soul. Through the use of collaboration and evidence-based treatments that best fit your child’s needs and goals in therapy, I hope to be the person that you can place trust in to support you and your child!"

"I enjoy utilizing play with younger children during sessions as children often struggle to verbalize their emotions and challenges to adults, therefore incorporating play therapy can often help children explore their emotions nonverbally, learn personal coping strategies, and work through unresolved problems. Taking a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach with the children I work with allows me to help them become more aware of how their thoughts influence their emotions and behavior, recognize their challenges to re-frame self-defeating thoughts, and utilize replacement strategies to help with challenging feelings. Social skills are an important component to a child’s early development, as well as having a notable impact on a child’s overall self-esteem. Social skills don’t always come easily to children and therefore they may require the intervention of a professional to help build social confidence. I am proud to offer Social Skills Groups targeting different areas required for a child to begin feeling more confident in effectively interacting with their peers! I look forward to helping your child become a happier, more confident young individual!
I also offer Psychological/Cognitive testing and evaluations for children between the ages of 4-18. Psychological evaluations can assist in identifying underlying learning challenges, social-emotional vulnerability areas, executive functioning deficits, etc. If you would like outside testing done for your child please contact me and we can discuss concern areas for a more detailed assessment approach."
